Industry: Cross-sector
Scope: Management teams & cross-generational teams
Context

Organisations were navigating evolving expectations at work, marked by the coexistence of multiple generations with differing references, communication styles, and motivations.

At the same time, many organisations were facing challenges related to recruitment and retention, alongside questions around management practices, team motivation, and engagement.

Difficulties observed in day-to-day professional practices highlighted the impact of generational value differences on behaviours, collaboration, and communication at work.

In this context, creating a shared understanding of intergenerational dynamics emerged as an important lever to support engagement, cooperation, and more effective management practices.

The challenge

The objective was to decode Generation Z expectations and identify concrete engagement levers, while supporting managers in adapting their practices to a multi-generational workforce.

Key focus areas included:

  • Understanding generational values and how they translate into daily behaviours

  • Reducing misunderstandings and friction linked to generational differences

  • Identifying management practices adapted to diverse expectations at work

My role

As facilitator and consultant, I designed and led an interactive and participatory workshop focused on intergenerational dynamics.

My role was to create a structured space for dialogue, reflection, and shared learning, enabling participants to translate insights into actionable management practices.

Approach

The intervention was built around an interactive workshop format and included:

  • Participatory exploration of values, motivations, and communication differences across generations

  • Collective reflection on perceptions, assumptions, and daily professional practices

  • Translation of insights into concrete, applicable management practices

The approach encouraged openness, dialogue, and collective ownership.

Impact

The engagement contributed to:

  • A clearer and shared understanding of generational differences

  • Reduced misunderstandings and friction within teams

  • More inclusive and effective management practices

  • Increased awareness of engagement and retention levers

Key Takeaway

This workshop illustrates how structured and participatory approaches can support organizations in addressing intergenerational challenges, strengthening engagement, and developing management practices aligned with evolving expectations at work.
