Creating the #change you want in your career or life requires time and preparation.
Inspired by a discussion with a friend and observing my clients, I realize people decide to act when they hit rock bottom and need an immediate change. But a smooth and stress-free change doesn’t happen overnight.
Remember last time you decided you need to start working out again? Most likely you weren’t feeling well in your body, but you were highly motivated to make the change you wanted, setting some high targets. What happened next? You started doing physical activity at least 3 times a week, maybe started a restrictive diet, and pushed your untrained body too hard. By the end of third week, you were exhausted, didn’t see the expected results, and lost your motivation. You were about to give up before even starting your journey.
This is how it works with every change in your life, whether this is about your career or personal life.
Don’t wait until you are suffering!
Start preparing your next move as soon as you feel your current situation is not fulfilling anymore.
Follow the steps below and you’ll transition while staying in control:
Recenter and evaluate what is important for you. What brings you joy? What drains you? Understand the change you need to make. Sometimes, this change is within your reach.
Assess your resources and plan how you need to upgrade the ones you lack. What do you need to upgrade your skills? How can you secure a financial situation before pursuing your dream project? What you need to delegate to make more time for your project? Etc.
Begin your change with small steps and adapted to your current situation.
Avoid comparing yourself to others. The only progress you need to measure is your own.
Learn to appreciate and celebrate every small step you take on your journey.
Don’t wait to be overwhelmed to start a change!
I'm with you,
Arina
