The answer to this question is: both. I’m currently located in Corsica, France, and I work with clients both locally and internationally using the following approach:
For individual international coaching, we schedule our meetings online.
For local coaching clients I offer the option of either in person or online sessions.
Workshops are available either online or in-person at international locations.
I have coached clients from France, Canada, The Netherlands, Sweden, Romania. I welcome clients from anywhere in the world as long as you speak English, French or Romanian.
Coaching is most effective when the coach-client relationship is strong. That means finding someone whom you personally find credible, resourceful, and empathetic with your situation. Someone who “gets” you, yet someone who can offer fresh perspective on things. You can get a sense of this during a chemistry session.
Take the time to meet different coaches before you find the perfect fit for you.
Currently, the term “coach” is used by many people. Some call themselves coaches although they have no training or certification process.
A certified coach have completed formalized training programs, accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF) such as the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the largest in-person training program in the world.
Finding a certified coach allows you as a client to filter amongst those coaches who do this “informally” and those who have really dedicated themselves to being professional coaches.
